There are many law schools in the Philippines. In fact as of July 2007 there are as many as 105! (Full list found here) Discussing all of them would be a waste of time and would frankly bore you to death so I have made my own list of my top 3 law schools.
My Top 3 are (in alphabetical order)
1. Ateneo Law School
The Ateneo Law school has a high bar passing rate. It is located in Rockwell Drive, Rockwell Center Makati.
Their class schedules are more suitable for full time law students versus those who are working students)
Although the tuition is on the expensive side (about 60K a semester I think) the education and training in this school will ensure a bright future for you.
Program: Juris Doctor
length: 4 years
2. San Beda Law School
The San Beda Law School's reputation as a prime Philippine Law school is due largely to their high bar passing rates and their consistent bar topnotchers (Although they did not perform as well last year) The tuition rates here are in the 40Ks per semester.
Their classes are mostly in the late afternoon up to the evening making it more convenient for working students.
They are also known for taking in a large number of law freshmen and quickly trimming them down to a fabled 20% by the time they graduate.
Program: Llb
Length: 4 years
3. University of the Philippines Law school
The UP law school is the hardest law school to get into due to the highly competitive entrance exams. This is mainly because only about 200 students get admitted every year which I suspect is due to budgetary constraints. Being a state university the UP Law school tuition is only 20k a semester for regular students and even lower if you are from the lower economic classes and/or if you enter as a working student.
Their bar passing rate has not been as high as the two previous schools but their graduates are reportedly better trained and equipped for practice after the bar.
UP has both a day program and a night program to accommodate full time students (who finish in 4 years) and working students (who finish in 5 years)
Program: Juris Doctor
Length 4 years day, 5 years evening
I have read many blogs about best law schools in the Philippines and I found out the Ateneo is always on top. Choosing the right and best law schools is the first step to become one of the best lawyers in the Philippines.
